Utopia's History

UTOPIA is a classic Downeast style lobster boat from the board of legendary Maine designer Royal Lowell. She was launched at Newington, NH in 1974 at the yard of Bruno and Stillman as the first "Bruno 42" licensed by the Coast Guard for passengers. UTOPIA has been sailing the east coast from Maine to Cape Cod ever since. The sturdy Downeast designs are known for their safety and comfort at sea, and the "Bruno 42" is at the top of her class.

Under her first owner, Capt. Bob Cloutier, UTOPIA was the undisputed area high liner for tuna and ground fish at Jeffrey's Ledge and beyond.  Capt. Bob ventured as far south as the Gulf of Mexico and the Bahamas in this proven seaworthy vessel. Utopia is recognized on local waterfronts from Portland to Gloucester.

After a thorough reconditioning in 2015 at Warren Pond Boatworks in South Berwick, UTOPIA has returned to service ferrying people and provisions year round to the Isles of Shoals, and offering a range of maritime excursions by Capt. Jack Farrell.
